Charles Darwin University (CDU) is founded on 50 years of delivering tertiary education in the Northern Territory. CDU is the NT's largest tertiary institution and plays a vital role in our local community. Did you know that one in every 15 Territorians studied a course at CDU in 2010?
CDU was formed in 2003 through a merger between the Northern Territory University, Alice Springs-based Centralian College, NT Rural College in Katherine and the Menzies School of Health Research.
Today, the University has campuses in Casuarina, Palmerston, Alice Springs, Katherine and Nhulunbuy, and training centres in Jabiru, Tennant Creek and Yulara.
CDU is a young university that offers a fresh approach to education, training, research and knowledge application. As a multi-sector education provider, CDU provides pathways for students, from school-based vocational training through to advanced research degrees.
Our students come from around Australia and overseas, consisting of Indigenous and international students, school leavers, and adult learners returning to study.

About 25 per cent of all research carried out across the Territory is undertaken by CDU. The University was awarded five stars for research intensivity in the Good Universities Guide 2010.
Charles Darwin University is committed to supporting Indigenous students to undertake university study. In 2010, about 20 per cent of our students were Indigenous - that's one in every five students. We provide support services for our Indigenous students, alternative entry programs and training centres in remote areas.
In partnership with Flinders University, Charles Darwin University is now offering the NT Medical Program. This means Territorians can study medicine at home - without leaving the Territory. This partnership adds to the long standing reputation CDU has in teaching nurses, pharmacists, psychologists and other health professionals.
In 2011, three new degrees are being offered and programs are being developed to ensure important areas, such as Indigenous health, have NT-trained professionals in future years.
